About

Global Sports Bulletin is for readers who want to understand sport beyond a scoreline. We explain how games work, how competitions are arranged and what to look for when a sport or format is unfamiliar.

What we cover

Our subjects include rules, scoring, competition formats, equipment and sporting history. The aim is to make the structure of a game easier to see, whether you are following one match or trying a new sport for the first time.

Who it is for

Readers do not need specialist knowledge to start here. We write for curious fans, occasional viewers and anyone who wants a plain explanation of how a game or event is organised.

How we explain sport

We define terms, separate rules from tactics and keep explanations grounded in examples. When a rule or format varies, we say so rather than pretending one version applies everywhere.
